Description:

When production started in 1898 the distillery was indeed called Speyside, this being changed to Dalwhinnie in 1905. Closed after fire 1934 and not reopened until 1939. Distillery houses a Meteorological station which the manager is responsible for. Dalwhinnie is located in the highlands, at 1073 feet above sea level close to the source of the river Spey making it the highest distillery in Scotland.
